Global warming, acid rains and energy dependence are leading the need for major change in our transport systems.

In this framework, Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles will play an important role but exchange of views between scientists is still required to ensure progress and foster synergies in the field.

Discussions between scientists, industry and authorities are also needed to make sure that needs and constraints from the ones and the others are well understood and that the most appropriate products are selected for market introduction.

The EET conference series, gathering the different actors, from industry, research institutes, NGO's and public authorities, contribute to identify the technologies that lead to technological, environmental and economical acceptable solutions as well as to develop a roadmap for sustainable urban mobility technology and in particular that,

• With respect to society, transportation systems should meet basic human needs for health.
• With respect to the economy, transportation systems should provide cost-effective technologies. It should also support vibrant, sustainable economic activity.
• Finally, with respect to the environment, transportation should make use of land in a way that has little or no impact on the integrity of ecosystems. It should use energy sources that are essentially renewable and produce no more emissions than can be accommodated by the planet’s restorative ability.

The 2008 European ELE-DRIVE Transportation Conference, EET 2008 for short, will be held in Geneva, in the framework of the International Advanced Moblity Forum, IAMF for short, a scientific and public forum, centered on key aspects and issues related to individual mobility for the future to take place in conjunction with the Geneva International Motor Show.

This will offer

• an excellent platform to encourage networking among scientists, engineers and authority representatives
• an occasion to compare Battery, Hybrid and Fuel cell vehicles to other technologies, such as Biofuels or natural gas, which also help to considerably reduce the emissions and fuel consumption
• to be part of the Geneva International Motor Show, appreciated for its neutrality, visibility, quality and elegance, as well as well known as a premier showcase for clean technologies

The show will be the more exciting since 2008 will be the première of a Special Exhibition on research and development in the field of the future mobility to take place all during the Geneva Motor Show. This will offer a unique opportunity to car and component manufacturers, energy and infrastructure suppliers, research institutes and public and private actors to present their latest progresses to its larger than ever public since in 2007 the show has attracted
